一．学习目标

1. 通过听，说，读，写等方式，使学生了解父亲节和母亲节的相关知识。

2. 通过观看微电影，解读father和mother的含义，诗歌欣赏以及讨论为父母做点什么等活动让学生更多地理解父母，更懂得感恩父母。

二．过程

1. 观看微电影《光之塔》，引出并激发学生对父母的感情。

2. 解读father和mother的含义，加深学生对父母的理解。

3.了解父亲节和母亲节的知识：

Mother’s Day and Father’s Day

People in the United States honor（给…以荣誉） their parents with two special days：Mother’s Day，on the second Sunday in May，and Father’s Day，on the third Sunday in June．

Mother’s Day was proclaimed（声明） a day for national（国家的）observance（惯例） by President Wood row Wilson（威尔生总统）in1915．Ann Jarvis from Grafton，West Virginia（西弗吉尼亚州格拉弗顿区的安·贾维斯女士），had started the idea to have a day to honor mothers．She was the one who chose（选择choose的过去式 ）the second Sunday in May and also began the custom（风俗） of wearing a carnation（康乃馨）．

In 1909，Mrs．Dodd from Spokane，Washington（美国华盛顿州的斯波坎市的多德夫人），thought of the idea of a day to honor fathers．She wanted to honor her own（自己的） father，William Smart．After her mother died（过去式，原形为die），he had the responsibility (责任)of raising(raise,抚养)a family of five sons and a daughter．In 1910，the first Father’s Day was observed in Spokane．Senator Margaret Chase Smith （参议员玛格丽特·切斯·史密斯） helped to establish (建立)Father’s Day as a national commemorative(纪念的) day，in 1972．

These days are set aside(留出) to show love and respect（尊重) for parents．They raise their children and educate（教育） them to be responsible（有责任心的） citizens（公民）．They give love and care．These two special days are celebrated （celebrate庆祝）in many different ways．On Mother’s Day people wear carnations．A red one symbolizes（动词，原形为symbol） a living （活着的）mother．A white one shows that the mother is dead（死的）．Many people attend （参加）religious （宗教的）services（n.service复数形式，服务） to honor parents．It is also a day when people whose parents are dead visit the cemetery（ n. 墓地）.On these days families get together at home，as well as in restaurants．They often have outdoor（户外的） barbecues （n. 烤肉）for Father’s Day．These are days of fun and good feelings and memories （n.记忆；回忆memory的复数）．Another tradition （传统） is to give cards and gifts．Children make them in school．Many people make their own presents（礼物）．These are valued （adj. 重要的；宝贵的；）more than the ones bought in stores．It is not the value(价值) of the gift that is important(重要的)，but it is “the thought that counts（“重要的是对父母的拳拳之心”）”．Greeting card stores（贺卡屋），florists（花店），candy makers（糖果店），bakeries（面包房），telephone companies（电话公司），and other stores do a lot of business（生意） during （在……期间）these holidays．
